Brighter Days is a piece about coming together with those around us and supporting each other through hard times. We are reminded that we can choose to be happy on both the good and bad days, and that there are always brighter days to look forward to.
Identity is a piece that focuses on
what makes us who we are. We
structured this piece on stories from our childhood and core personality traits that make us whole. Some of these were "dark" and some were "light." We formed these into energy qualities and used them to shape improvisation.
Stronger together is a piece that is about supporting one another and coming together during hard times. The film for Stronger Together includes illustrations from 4,008 local elementary school students to create an animation.
In this piece we had the opportunity to collaborate with another BYU dance team, Living Legends. Our goals was to take individuals with all different backgrounds, personalities and characteristics to help facilitate friendships that may not have happened otherwise. Through working with others, we were able to learn things about ourselves and think deeply about the ideas of perception and connection.
In this piece we uncover and present issues such as feelings of being alone, stuck, and afraid. This is shown through the interaction of the dancers and the tugging, lifting and maneuvering fabric. Even though the usage of the prop is prominent throughout the piece, the main theme still revolves around the unity of the dancers, and how by coming together these burdens can become manageable.
